Welcome to the Eugene Climate & Energy Action collaboration site!
City of Eugene staff, partners, and the public are working together to: identify changes needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare the region for climate change and reduced access to oil, connect people who are already involved in these issues, inspire new people to get involved, and engage as many people as possible in dialogue toward action. We are also seeding self-organizing energies that can continue long past the end of this project. One of the outcomes of this work will be a Plan for Action on Climate and Energy, to be released by the city in August 2010.
How you can get involved:
- Attend the September 26 kickoff event. Other events will follow, one on each of six topics relating to climate and energy.
- Join the mailing lists for project announcements and/or conversation.
- Take this survey to help us learn about what people are already doing about energy and climate change.
- Learn about and share resources.
- Add relevant projects that are already underway (including any that you'd like to start or join).
- Attend public meetings of the Advisory Team — second Wednesday of every month. Next meeting is October 14, 4-6pm, in the Singer Room of the Eugene Downtown Library.
- Read the official project blog and add your comments there.
- How else would you like to participate in this project? (add your thoughts there)

Major Topics
There are six major topics that will be addressed as part of developing the plan. Each will be the subject of its own public engagement event. The Advisory Team will begin considering each topic before its event, and then take input from the event before incorporating what is learned and planned about that topic into the overall plan. Each topic also has a page on this website where you can learn more about the topic, its public engagement event, and collaborate on things related to that event in general:
Buildings and Energy
Food and Agriculture
Land Use and Transportation
Consumption and Waste
Health and Social Services
Natural Resources
